About the Blog

Educating fellow Jews about the sporting and defensive use of firearms. Especially Jews in North America, too many of whom are instilled with the belief that guns aren't for nice Jewish boys and girls.

If you know of notable Jewish shooters that should be documented on the blog, even if it is only at the local club level, I am happy to report and profile them. And don't be shy if that person to be documented is you! Please drop me a line at jewishmarksman at gmail dot com. Also follow me on twitter @JMarksmanship.

Jewish Marksmen of 1965 - Ronald Krelstein, Lester Baer, Charles Denis, Norman Ricker and Edwin Markowitz

I stumbled across this old news clipping from the Pittsburgh Press dated July 25, 1965, which identifies the 1965 Maccabiah Games Pistol Squad:
I will try to research Ronald Krelstein, Lester Baer, Charles Denis, Norman Ricker and Edwin Markowitz, but as usual, I appreciate any tips the readers can give!

  1. Kirk,
That was my thought as well, but I am not sure it is the same person. I spent some time researching on google but could not confirm.

If any reader can confirm, it would be greatly appreciated. I may just drop him a line and see if I get a reply.

Either way, great pistols. I borrowed one for a while when I was shooting Bullseye seriously, best trigger and drove tacks at 50 yards.

  2. I met Ron at a match in Oak Ridge in '08. He dispensed some excellent legal advice about which contractor not to hire. I listened and I am glad I did so. Best wishes, Ronald! Hope to see you again in Oak Ridge for the Big Ed's or the Regional. Mike Glasman
